Fall-From-Grace

I believe that the Planes are meant to be experienced, and the more one experiences, in traveling, in joy, in pain, in merriment or in suffering, the more the multiverse reveals itself to you...

And the more you are revealed to yourself.

Overview
A creature of contradictions, Fall-From-Grace is a cleric but worships no god. She is formed from pure chaos and evil, but is lawful neutral with leanings towards good. In Sigil, she ran the Brothel For Slaking Intellectual Lusts, a forum whose staff offer intellectual and emotional stimulation rather than sexual services. Perhaps the oddest of all, she is a beautiful succubus, but is by all appearances chaste. Her kiss is fatal.

Personality
Fall-From-Grace is described as a creature of contradictions, and it might be one of the most noticeable things about her. She’s an agnostic cleric, a Lawful Neutral demon, and a chaste succubus. How she manages these things is what makes up the core of her character: the overarching question in the game is “what can change the nature of a man,” and in Grace’s case the answer is choice.

As open as she can be about herself, Grace never states what it was that made her turn her back on her intrinsic nature, but it most likely stems from her early experiences in the Hells, sold into slavery by her Chaotic Evil mother and tormented by her Lawful Evil captors. She does credit her chaotic nature with her eventual escape, and there was a time where she lived as any other succubus, seducing mortals to send their souls to the Abyss.

Then she made her way out of the lower planes to Sigil and encountered the Society of Sensation, and Grace changed. She believes deeply in the ways of her Faction, in the idea of experiencing everything possible in the multiverse and otherwise. Perhaps in some ways it's a way to put her years of suffering into perspective, but that isn't her only interest. Grace's belief in the idea of learning through experience is so strong that it provides the power for her cleric abilities, rather than any deity. She has quite literally made her philosophy into a kind of religion.

And if all of her past experience has taught her anything, it's the futility of evil. Despite the chaotic evil that makes up her very nature as a tanar'ri and the seductiveness that should be her reason for being as a succubus, Grace has chosen to rebel against all of it. Even as a brothel madame, she keeps herself chaste; the brothel she runs offers intellectual stimulation, rather than physical. And more than that, it's a chance for her to mentor the women who work there, all of them prospective members of the Sensates faction. More than just choosing not to be evil, Grace has chosen to be a polite and kind caretaker, even if her attempts to do the same with the adventuring party she ends up with are less successful. She still tries, even with the group's many dysfunctions.

In a large part, it's because she's no better. The thing that draws all of them to The Nameless One's side is the mark of Torment tattooed onto him, and Grace is no exception. In fact, another character speculates that she might be the most tormented out of all of them. Defying her nature is a constant struggle, and even with all of the choices she makes, there are some things Grace can't avoid. Her touch still hurts and her kiss still kills, and no amount of denial will change that. When she falls in love with The Nameless One, it's with the understanding that nothing will ever come of it (unless he has particularly low Wisdom, in which case the outcome is predictable), and she is not offended when it isn't returned. She also makes no attempt to hide what she is, even though it makes her a target of (understandable) suspicion.

Grace does, however, have some tendencies towards passive-aggression and sarcasm. It can be harder to spot, considering how self-possessed she is, but Grace's patience does have a limit. In her lighter moments it stays at friendly teasing, but her skill at words extends to being quietly cutting just as easily. And if she gets genuinely angry, usually caused by someone threatening those she cares about, well. Clerics do have a few offensive spells, and she's quite good with them.

ABILITIES
Priest: Grace is an 11th Level Priest under AD&D 2e rules, with a primary focus in healing. She also has a Lore specialization and can identify magical objects.

Fiend: Even as a lesser tanar'ri, Grace is missing many intrinsic abilities to her race, but she does have an ability to shapeshift, as well as flight thanks to her wings. Additionally, her touch hurts and her kiss kills. On the other hand, she does still have her race's inability to touch cold iron.
